System Templates
Built-in strategy templates ready to use or duplicate and customise.
What are System Templates
System templates are curated, read-only strategy templates that ship with plutarc. They are intended as reference implementations — use them alongside the Strategy Cookbook to understand how components, roles, combination modes, and exit rules fit together when building your own templates.
You cannot edit a system template directly. To customise one, click Duplicate in the Strategy Builder to create a personal copy that you can modify freely.
System templates are provided for educational and reference purposes. Users who deploy system templates to live bots do so at their own discretion. Always backtest and review any template before trading with real capital.

Trend Ride (5m)
Momentum trend-riding on the 5-minute timeframe — enters on MACD/RSI/Stochastic agreement, cuts losers with a tight 5m-ATR stop and lets winners ride a wide 5m-ATR trailing stop (no take-profit cap). A fast volatility gate skips chaotic regimes. Trend-following by nature: profits cluster in trending markets and give back in chop, so returns are lumpy with mid-run drawdowns — validated net-positive on majors (BTC/ETH) over a full multi-regime window, weaker on high-volatility alts.
| Component | Role | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| MACD | Signal | 1 |
| RSI (Relative Strength Index) | Signal | 1 |
| Stochastic Oscillator | Signal | 1 |
| Fast Volatility Gate | Entry Guard | 1 |
| Hard Stop Loss | Exit Rule | 1 |
| Trailing Stop | Exit Rule | 1 |
RSI Divergence
RSI regular and hidden divergence entries on the 1-hour timeframe, gated by a Counter-Trend Veto that blocks trades taken against a strong 4-hour trend — so the strategy only fires when the higher timeframe is consolidating (where divergences actually work). There is no take-profit: a break-even stop caps losses and a trailing stop lets winners run, which makes profitability entry-dependent. Tuned and validated on BTC over a full 7-month multi-regime window (profit factor ~1.1, ~8% max drawdown, net of 0.05% fees). The counter-trend veto improves results across majors, but profitability is symbol-dependent — strongest on BTC, marginally positive on DOGE, around breakeven on ETH, and weaker on high-volatility alts like SOL. Best deployed on BTC.

Choosing a Template
- New to algorithmic trading? Start with Trend Following Classic or Ichimoku Trend — fewer components, easier to understand and tune.
- Prefer range-bound markets? Mean Reversion Scalper fades overextended moves, and Funding Rate Fade exploits crowded perpetual positioning.
- Want high-confluence entries? Kairos (5 signals + 2 guards + risk gate) and Arche (6 signals + 4 guards) demand strong agreement before entering.
- Interested in volatility compression? Squeeze Breakout detects Bollinger/Keltner squeezes and trades the release.
- Looking for momentum breakouts? Momentum Breakout combines swing structure breaks with MACD momentum and volume confirmation.
Customising Templates
- Go to the Strategy Builder and find the system template you want to start from.
- Click Duplicate to create a personal copy.
- Adjust parameters, add or remove components, change weights, or switch the combination mode.
- Backtest your changes before deploying live — compare metrics against the original to measure improvement.
System templates are versioned. When plutarc updates a system template, your personal copies are not affected — they remain as you configured them.
Managing Templates
The Templates page is where you create, edit, duplicate, and delete your strategy templates. There are no limits on the number of templates you can create.
Creating from Scratch
Click New Template to start with a blank slate. Add components one at a time, assign roles, configure parameters and weights, choose a combination mode, and set trading sessions. See the Strategy Builder docs for details on each setting.
Duplicating Templates
Click Duplicate on any template — system or user-created — to create an independent copy. The copy is fully editable and has no connection to the original. This is the fastest way to iterate on a working configuration.
Editing & Deleting
User-created templates can be edited or deleted at any time. If a template is currently assigned to a running bot, the bot receives the updated configuration in real time via its reactive subscription — no restart required. Deleting a template that is assigned to a bot will unassign it first.
Template Versioning
Templates are versioned independently of bot state. When you edit a template, bots using it pick up the changes immediately. System templates carry a version number (e.g. v3, v4) that increments when plutarc updates them — your personal copies are never affected by these updates.
Each template also tracks the schema version of every component it uses. If a component's parameters or behaviour change between releases, your bot will detect the mismatch and warn you that the template may need re-saving. When possible, parameter changes are migrated automatically.
